Another air purification technology that is used in conjunction with filters to neutralize biological contaminants and chemicals in the atmosphere is the UV Catalytic Oxidation System which utilizes a Titanium grid as a catalyst for UV-C (254nm) germicidal light.

The purification is conducted by the Hydroxyl Radicals that are formed on the Titanium grid and the UV light neutralizes the biological contaminants consisting of microbes, virus, bacteria and fungus or molds in the air. Because the action of the UV Catalytic Oxidation System does not release ozone as a purification agent, therefore, this system cannot guarantee that the air throughout a living space will be free from contaminants.

The action of the technology is dependant on the air which comes in contact with the system, but this system is suitable for those who may be concerned about the presence of ozone in their living space (Air Purification Tips, 2004).
